Where Hyderabad is located ?

Charminar, Hyderabad

  • It was Built over 400 years ago- this is iconic four-storied structure built in typical Islamic style houses a mosque on the top floor. There are a numerous stories related to the construction of this monument, the most widely believed one is that Charminar was built to memorializing the annihilation of cholera.
  • Structure rises to almost 48.7 meters from the ground and overlook the landscape of the area. Charminar is square shaped and the minarets have four levels with level circled by a ring around the minaret.
  • The four arches of the building face four main directions and each side is opened to a huge courtyard. The arches have a width of 11 meters and a height of 20 meters from the base.
  • The first-floor balcony provides an excellent view of the surrounding areas and on the top floor, there is a small mosque on the Western side of the monument, which faces Mecca.
  • Another interesting story about this historic magnificent structure is that it has an underground tunnel that connects it to Golconda Fort, though the location of the tunnel remains elusive.
  • While you are in the Charminar area, don’t forget to treat yourself to a glass Milan juice center, Irani Chai and some Osmania biscuits from the nearby Nimrah Café and Bakery.

  • Golconda Fort was constructed on a hilltop in west Hyderabad in 1143. Although it was constructed in the 1100s, the fort was fortified between the 14th and 17th centuries. There are 87 bastions. Bastions are platform on which cannon is placed. The inner structure consists of ruins of courtyards, palaces, pavilions, etc. 
  • It is associated with some of the most famous diamonds in the world. For instance, the fort was once the address of the legendary Hope and Kohinoor diamonds and few others.
  • In fort you are welcomed with nice grass lawns on either side of the pathway. Few meters up the path, the grand doorway stands tall. Golconda still boasts of mounted cannons, four drawbridges, eight gateways, and majestic halls, magazines, stables etc. There is a lot of climbing on old stairs, over 500-feet up.
  • Clapping your hand at the entry point near the dome entrance reverberates which is heard clearly at the hill top pavilion, almost one kilometer away. This served as a warning note to the residents of the fort of any approaching danger.
  • The light and sound show held here every evening is something that you must not miss out on, especially if you are visiting the fort with your kids.

BM Birla Science Museum, Hyderabad

  • For more than 30 years, the planetarium has been building sky shows based on a variety of scientific approaches and theories that include topics such as Hubble’s telescope, comets, planets, eclipses, and UFOs. So, most striking feature of the planetarium is very magnificent The Sky Show at the Sky Theatre.
  • Every year this show has a different name, in the year 1985 the first show was based on the theme of universe and it was named Astounding Universe. Sky Show is both informative and entertaining at the same time. Like all other shows in museum. The duration of the show lasts for about 35 minutes.

Birla Mandir, Hyderabad

  • It is situated at the top the Kala Pahad which is a twin hillock of Naubat Pahad. The Birla’s built the Hyderabad temple in 1976 and constructed it with white marbles imported from Rajasthan. The hillock is situated on a 13-acre plot at a height of 280-feet.
  • The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu present in the form of Sri Venkateshwara. The kirtanas of Tyagaraja, Annamayya, and Ramadasu reverberating against the backdrop of a blue sky in the morning. The temple combines the architectural styles of Utkal (Oriya) and South Indian style.
  • The temple also boasts of finely sculpted marbled images depicting the great epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata. The 42-feet high sanctum sanctorum (Garba gudi) is an impressive replica of the Venkateshwara temple at Tirumala.
