What led to Re-Election in the middle of service terms in UK?

Boris Johnson resigned as Conservative Party leader and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on July 7. His resignation came after a turmoil of resignations from his cabinet due to supposed scandals, including allegations of sexual misconduct against a lawmaker and parties planned during the Covid-19 lockdown.
The United Kingdom was now preparing for a new election. It was not a general election, but rather a Conservative Party election. Through this poll, the party’s new leader and the country’s Prime Minister was chosen. Truss won 57% of the votes from Conservative Party members compared to 43% for her rival, former finance minister Rishi Sunak, some polls suggest this margin although was comfortable but not as immense. Rishi Sunak, who ran against Liz Truss in the UK prime minister election, came in second place with 20,927 votes. Liz Truss was elected President of the United Kingdom with 81,326 votes, while Rishi received 60,399.

How a Prime Minister is elected in UK, The election Process?
- Every 5 years UK holds election process. As per constituency, people vote for Local Representatives. The party that wins the most constituencies is declared the winner of the election. The winning party then chooses the PM. Normal process says all citizens of the country cast their vote to elect their UK PM.
- But since Boris Johnson resigned in the middle of his serving terms so this time UK PM was selected by voting of ruling conservative Party.
- So, to run for Prime Minister, a Conservative Party member must be nominated by at least 20 other MPs. For 2022, PM race the candidates were Kemi Badenoch, Suella Braverman, Jeremy Hunt, Rishi Sunak, and Liz Truss.
- Then comes a two-step selection process.
- In the first stage, MPs cast secret ballots for the candidates. After each round, the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated, until only two candidates remain.
- Card-carrying grassroots members of Conservative party cast their votes for the remaining two candidates in the second stage. The remaining final two candidates were Rishi Sunak and Lis Truss.
- This finally led to winning of Lis Truss and being UK Prime Minister.

How this time New Prime Minister of UK will be appointed?
The appointment of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom this time did break one tradition by taking place at Balmoral Castle in Scotland rather than Buckingham Palace in London.
Before the new Prime Minister takes over office and all responsibilities, Boris Johnson is expected to deliver a speech at his official residence, followed by a trip to Scotland to tender his resignation to the Queen. Liz Truss, will then meet with King Charles to form the government.
The Court Circular, the official record of royal engagements, will record that “the prime minister kissed hands-on appointment” once the new prime minister is appointed. It should be noted that Queen Elizabeth had 14 prime ministers while her 70 years of crown.

According to tradition, the resigned UK PM appears before the House of Commons for the last time, and then outside 10 Downing Street, before visiting the King at Buckingham Palace. The PM placed her resignation before the King Charles III, who then released a statement acknowledging his acceptance.
Soon after, the new PM visits the King, asking for permission to form a new government. Once the King accepted the offer, UK had a new PM.

She is daughter of a Math professor and a nurse, who took her on Anti- Nuclear and Anti against Thatcher protest as a child.
